Perth’s sun dries out timber decks fast. Within a year or two an unprotected deck goes grey, dry and splintery. Regular oiling or staining keeps the timber sealed and looking good.
We sand the boards back to clean timber and clean off the dust and old coatings. Then we apply deck oil or stain by brush, working it into the grain board by board. The result is an even finish that protects the wood rather than just sitting on top.

How often should a deck be oiled in Perth?
Most decks need a maintenance coat every 12–18 months, and more often if they’re in full sun all day.
Oil or stain, which is better?
Oil soaks in and gives a natural look that’s easy to re-coat. Stain adds more colour and can even out older timber. We’ll look at your deck and recommend what suits it.
Does the deck need sanding every time?
Not always. If it’s been maintained, a clean and re-coat is often enough. A deck that’s gone grey or has flaking coating needs sanding back first.
